Your first drink costs NT$200. Every conversation after that is free.
Every Friday night, language learners meet at The 58 Bar in Ximending to trade sentences, fix each other's grammar and order another craft beer. There's no cover charge. Come practice your Mandarin, help someone with their English, or switch languages mid-sentence when you get stuck. It happens to everyone.
New bar, same Friday plan
We've moved to The 58 Bar. It stocks hundreds of Taiwanese craft beers and serves British-style food, so if you're nervous about speaking, you can order first and talk after. They also have snacks, mains, soft drinks and cocktails, all at reasonable prices.
The owner gives out free fries or shredded squid on the night. That's an easy conversation starter if you need one.
How the NT$200 works
Your first order has to be at least NT$200: one drink or one food item.
The NT$200 goes toward what you order. It isn't an extra fee.
After that, normal menu prices apply.
Buying from the bar supports our hosts and keeps this night running.
