At this table, you'll probably hear all four before the first round is over. It's a board game night in Zhongshan where people from all over Taipei and beyond sit down together, learn the rules, and get competitive in a friendly way. English and Mandarin are the main languages, but Korean and Japanese speakers are very welcome to pull up a chair.
The game plan
Sit down, choose a game, and find out who at the table secretly takes strategy very seriously. A game gives you something to talk about straight away, so it's a low-pressure way to practice a language or meet people outside your usual group. You don't need to be fluent. Pointing at the board works too.
Finding the room
The event is at Hua The Building, Room 2, 5th Floor, No. 575, Linsen North Road, Zhongshan District, near Zhongshan Elementary School MRT Station.
Shuangcheng Street Night Market is close by. Grab dinner there before you play, or go after the game with your new friends to argue about who really won.
