Three hours. Two discussion rounds. One short speech. Not a word of Mandarin, and nobody minds if you need a second to find the right word.
Taipei Interactive English Club (iEnglish) is a non-profit English conversation and study group. We meet two or three Saturday afternoons a month at Human Space 人性空間, a café near Gongguan MRT Exit 4. Most of us are office workers and grad students who want to keep our English in use, and we've made some good friends along the way.
How the afternoon runs
This week's hosts, speakers and gourmets (our dinner organizers) are listed on the upcoming gatherings schedule.
The money part, kept simple
Everyone pays the entry fee, members and non-members alike. Come twice and see if it suits you. If you keep coming, we ask that you become a member by your third visit. Membership fees cover club operations, equipment and member activities.
Why people join
Run the room: only members can be host, speaker or gourmet, which means more chances to practice.
First pick on extras: monthly outings, invited English talks, our annual sports day and the Christmas party, sometimes at member prices.
Help run the club: members can join the Officer Team.
