Why Zuoying
Zuoying is the oldest developed part of Kaohsiung and the city's first political center. Its early community grew up around an old military base and township. Over time that history shaped a religious life that is still part of everyday city life today.
On the way, you'll find out which gods are worshipped in Taiwan and why. You'll also see one of Taiwan's best-known traits: different religions living side by side and respecting each other, right next to traffic, snack stalls and modern Kaohsiung.
Before you go
Wear comfortable walking shoes. Bring water, and an umbrella if the sky looks moody.
The tour runs rain or shine. If the Kaohsiung City Government declares a day off because of a natural disaster, the tour is canceled and you'll hear about it one day in advance.
Free walking tours are for solo travelers and small groups. If you're 5 or more people, or a group arranged by a travel agency, please send a private tour request instead. Large groups that turn up without notice or a booking may be turned away.
