🇯🇵 Write Your First Haiku! (Online Trial Event) ✍️ 俳句をつくろう！

Five sounds. Then seven. Then five again. That's the whole frame of a haiku, and by the end of this session one of those frames will hold words you picked yourself.

This class is for Japanese learners who stop to enjoy a word just because it sounds nice. You can read the kana and you're curious about haiku or tanka. You've never written one, and that's fine.

Above is Bashō's famous frog poem, split into its 5-7-5 sound pattern. It's here to show the shape, not to scare you.

What happens on the call

• A teacher walks you step by step through the basics: 季語 (season words), the core rules, and tips for expressing an idea in very few sounds.

• You write your own original haiku in the same session.

• You'll pick up new Japanese vocabulary while you write.

• Take part in easy Japanese or English. Go at your own pace.

You don't need any poetry experience. A love of words is enough.
