Hiking Wufen Shan (silver grass & waterfall)

Start with Shifen Waterfall, climb up through the silver grass, and watch the sun go down from the top of Wufen Shan. Then head back into Shifen for some food together before catching a train or bus home. Phoebe is guiding.

The numbers

To be clear, this is a hike, not a stroll. Make sure you're fit enough to keep up with the group for the whole afternoon.

Getting to Shifen from Taipei Main

The Ruifang transfer is tight, so don't stop for a snack. Train times can change, so check your route the day before. You can also use the group chat to find other hikers riding the same train.

Pack like there's no 7-Eleven (there might not be any shops)

• 2–3 L of water

• Enough food for a long afternoon

• Insect repellent and sunblock

• Proper hiking shoes and clothes for Taiwan weather, which can be unpredictable and sometimes extreme

• Volunteers organize this informal hike. You alone are responsible for your physical and mental wellbeing. Never leave the group without telling someone.
