Geopolitics Discussion: Virtual Edition

An unfinished thought is a good place to start. This participant-led online conversation about world affairs makes room for honest questions, tentative views, and ideas you’re still working through.

We meet jointly with sister clubs in Dubai, London, and Berlin to explore how others see global events. Bring what’s on your mind; participants’ questions and interests guide where the conversation goes.

A loose map for the conversation

When we need a starting point, the general pattern is:

• First hour: EU, Middle East and Africa

• Second hour: Asia Pacific

• Third hour: Thematic discussion

That’s a guide, not a fixed agenda. Regions and themes will overlap, and the discussion can follow whatever takes hold. Join or leave whenever suits you.

Think in Draft mode

You don’t need a polished argument. Raw, half-formed, or seemingly bad ideas are welcome: thinking aloud together gives us a chance to question them, reconsider them, or discover there’s more to them than we expected.

The Chatham House Rule applies: you may use information shared in the discussion, but must not identify the speaker or their affiliation. This sits alongside the separate no-recording rule.

Connecting on Jitsi

Jitsi is the open-source meeting platform used for the discussion.

• Desktop: Chrome is recommended; Safari also works.

• Android or iOS: The Jitsi app is recommended.

Bring a question, a developing thought, or an issue you’d like to understand better. It doesn’t need to be finished to be worth discussing.
