Show up knowing nobody. Leave with a few new names in your phone, a phrase or two you didn't know this morning, and maybe a plan for next weekend.
This is a Saturday night for travelers and locals in Taipei to actually meet each other. It's not a lecture or a speed-dating drill. It's just a room full of people who came to talk.
How the night rolls
First, swap languages. Practice your 中文 with someone who'll kindly pretend your tones are fine. Or help a local polish their English, Japanese, or whatever you speak. Everybody teaches a bit and learns a bit.
Then, go past small talk. Once you've done "where are you from" and "how long are you here," the real conversations start. Why you moved, what you're figuring out, which night market is overrated. Bring your opinions.
Then, keep it going. The after-party is for anyone who isn't ready to call it a night.
Who you'll meet
Backpackers passing through for a week. Expats in their third year here. Taipei locals who like meeting people from somewhere else. Solo is completely normal here. Most people walk in alone and leave talking to someone.
