Meet the group over a drink first. Around 10 PM, anyone who wants to keep going heads out together, so you never walk into Taipei nightlife cold.
How the night runs
The first part is the easy bit. You get a seat, a drink (beer, wine or non-alcoholic) and hosts who pull new arrivals into conversations, which helps if you came alone. Most people do.
By the second part you already know a few names. The hosts pick the area that night, either Maji Square or Xinyi, so you don't have to plan anything. Go to one stop, stay out late, or skip it and just come for the social.
Who you'll be drinking with
Solo travelers, expats, new arrivals, international students, remote workers and Taiwanese locals who like meeting people from abroad. You'll hear English and Mandarin, but it's not a language exchange. Nobody's grading your tones. You also don't need to be outgoing. Just show up and let the hosts do the hard part.
