Somebody unmutes. "Okay, genuine question..." Someone dialing in from London picks it up, a voice from Berlin pushes back a little, Dubai adds the angle nobody had thought of, and the conversation ends up somewhere nobody planned.
That's the format. We bring thoughts and questions about world affairs and try to understand them better together. Nobody is lecturing and nobody has to be an expert. You just need some curiosity and maybe a cup of tea.
One call, four cities
This session runs online with our sister clubs in Dubai, London and Berlin, so you get perspectives from more than one time zone and more than one news cycle.
How the hours usually go (roughly)
We start with whatever participants have on their minds. If nobody brings a question, the evening usually goes like this:
Hour 1: EU, Middle East and Africa
Hour 2: Asia Pacific
Hour 3: Thematic, whichever big idea catches on
This is a loose guide. Topics will overlap, because geopolitics never stays in one region.
Come late or leave early, whatever works for you. You don't need to stay for all three hours.
House rules (there are three)
Cameras off by default. You might switch yours on to say hello when you introduce yourself, but that's optional.
No recordings of any kind. We value free thinking, and people speak more freely when they know they won't be recorded.
Save the session link now so you're not hunting for it at the last minute. After that, unmute whenever you're ready, or just listen. Both are completely fine.
