It's 9:00 on a Saturday morning in Taipei. You've got coffee in one hand and your mic is muted. Then the Table Topics master calls your name and gives you a question you've never heard before. You have about a minute and a half. Someone in Singapore is smiling, someone in Tokyo is nodding, and someone in London is very bravely awake at 2 AM.
You start talking, and it goes better than you expected.
What actually happens in the room
This is the founding Demo Meeting of Global Voice Toastmasters (創會 Demo Meeting). It's a real Toastmasters session in English, run online, with people joining from Taipei, the U.S. West Coast, London, Singapore, Tokyo, Hong Kong and more. The format has three parts:
Prepared Speeches: members give speeches they've rehearsed, on topics that matter to them
Table Topics: short speeches you make up on the spot, which is the best practice there is for thinking on your feet in English
Evaluations: live, supportive feedback, so you know exactly what to fix next time
It's not an English class. Nobody hands you a vocabulary list. You practice by speaking, listening and getting feedback in a room full of people from different countries.
The kind of stuff you'll talk about
These are real workplace topics. Practice explaining something complicated, like an AI idea or a leadership call, clearly and confidently. That's the English you need on Monday's video call. 職場英語,用說的練最快。
Two Saturdays this October
The first session was on October 10. The next one is Saturday, October 24, 9:00–10:30 AM Taipei time. It's an hour and a half, you don't have to travel, and pajama bottoms are totally fine.
Grab a spot for the 24th and come see what it's like.
