A tough forest climb for hikers who already know their legs can argue back.
Jialishan is beautiful — and not gentle. This is a long, technical out-and-back hike in Miaoli, with rocks, roots, river crossing, rope sections, and a 2,220 m summit. Official trail information also lists the maximum altitude as 2,220 m. (forest.gov.tw)
We are going by rented car from Taipei, leaving early and moving with purpose. If you are new to hiking, afraid of exposed sections, or unsure about 8+ hours on difficult terrain, please choose another hike. No shame — just safety.
Bring 3L water, lunch, snacks, proper hiking shoes, water shoes, gloves, towel, change of clothes, UV protection, mosquito repellent, power bank, and a headlamp. Hiking poles are recommended.
