You don’t need to be a poet—or a Japanese expert—to make your first 俳句 (haiku).
This friendly online trial event is a low-pressure place to play with Japanese words, notice the season, and write an original haiku of your own. A teacher will guide the class through the basics, including 季語 (kigo), or season words, simple rules, and tips for shaping an expression that feels like yours.
A small poem, made at your pace
