Start with Shifen Waterfall, climb up through the silver grass, and watch the sun go down from the top of Wufen Shan. Then head back into Shifen for some food together before catching a train or bus home. Phoebe is guiding.
The numbers
To be clear, this is a hike, not a stroll. Make sure you're fit enough to keep up with the group for the whole afternoon.
Getting to Shifen from Taipei Main
TAIPEI MAIN 10:05 local fast 4026
RUIFANG 10:44 arrive
10:55 local 4818 <- quick change!
SHIFEN 11:22 arrive
MEET UP 11:30 Shifen Station
The Ruifang transfer is tight, so don't stop for a snack. Train times can change, so check your route the day before. You can also use the group chat to find other hikers riding the same train.
Pack like there's no 7-Eleven (there might not be any shops)
2–3 L of water
Enough food for a long afternoon
Insect repellent and sunblock
Proper hiking shoes and clothes for Taiwan weather, which can be unpredictable and sometimes extreme
The friendly fine print
A voluntary 50 NTD contribution helps cover Meetup costs and is much appreciated.
Volunteers organize this informal hike. You alone are responsible for your physical and mental wellbeing. Never leave the group without telling someone.
Be friendly, say hi to new faces, and help everyone feel welcome.
If the route or plan changes for unforeseen reasons, go with the flow :)
By joining, you confirm you've read, understood and agreed to all of the above.
