Lake views, photo stops and an afternoon wandering Pinglin: spend the day hiking around Thousand-Island Lake and Crocodile Island, then visit Pinglin Old Street and the tea museum.
The host describes the first natural-path climb as easy, but expect plenty of stairs. The descent toward the lake is harder and optional—you can stay at the Crocodile Island photo platform instead.

Pack lunch, water and your fare
The group hike is free. Bring money for your own transport, museum entry and dinner.
UV protection and/or an umbrella.
A topped-up EasyCard/Yo-yo card with around NT$100, as suggested by the host.
Lunch and snacks—important.
1.5 L of water.
Around NT$100–150 cash for dinner.
NT$80 cash for museum admission; students should also bring their student card.
The host mentions free student entry. The museum specifies full-time students with a domestic student ID; ISIC is not accepted. Don't assume every student card qualifies. (tea.ntpc.gov.tw)
