New to Taipei and your contacts list is mostly delivery apps? Lived here for years and want to practice your English, Japanese or Spanish on someone new? This Friday night brings travelers and locals into one room to talk.
How the night goes
1. Swap languages. Teach a few words of yours and pick up some of theirs. Your accent doesn't need to be perfect, and laughing at your own tones is fine.
2. Talk properly. Once the "where are you from" round is done, the conversations get deeper. Why did you move here? Where's the best beef noodle? What would you do if you never went home?
3. Keep it going. The after-party is for people who've found their crew and aren't ready to call it a night.
Coming alone?
Good, so is almost everyone else. The whole point is meeting people you don't know yet. You don't need an icebreaker. Just say hi, and you can practice that in Mandarin if you like: 你好.
