Moving to a new city is easy. Finding people to hang out with on a Saturday night is the hard part. This night fixes that: travelers and locals in one room in Taipei, trading languages, getting into real conversations, and then keeping the night going together.
How the night goes
1. Language exchange. Practice the Mandarin you've been working on, or help someone with their English. Mixing up your tones is fine here. Nobody's grading you, and getting it wrong is a pretty good icebreaker.
2. Deep talks. Once the "where are you from" questions run out, things get interesting. Why you came to Taipei, what you miss about home, which night market is actually the best. (People will disagree. Loudly.)
3. The after-party. The people you just met come out with you, and by now they're starting to feel like friends.
Who you'll meet
Someone who landed in Taiwan last week. Someone who grew up a few streets away. Someone who has lived here for years and still wants more friends. If you're new in town or just want your Saturday to look a bit different, you'll fit right in.
No prep needed. Bring yourself and a bit of curiosity.
