Most people walk into MTB TeaBar alone on a Saturday night. By 10 PM they've lost at UNO to someone from Lyon and been dragged into a karaoke duet. Plenty of them leave with plans for the rest of their trip.
Two floors, three ways to start talking
You can move between floors and the outdoor area whenever you like:
2F: karaoke & board games. Sing, or don't. There's UNO, Jenga and a stack of board games for anyone who isn't singing.
1F indoors: darts & drinks. Grab your drink, pick up some darts and chat with travelers, expats and locals.
1F outdoors: chat & chill. A quieter spot to get to know people at your own pace.
The hosts handle the awkward part
They'll say hi when you arrive, introduce you around, pull you into a game and keep an eye out for anyone who's a little shy. You don't have to work out who to talk to first.
You'll meet solo travelers, expats, exchange students, digital nomads, working holiday visitors and friendly Taiwanese locals. This isn't a dating night and it isn't a structured language exchange. It's just people hanging out.
After 10 PM: optional bar hop 🌃
If you're not ready to go home, the host takes whoever wants to keep going to a nearby music bar, usually playing Hip Hop or House. The bar can change from week to week. Leaving at 10 is totally fine. Drinks, transport and any cover charge at the next bar are on you.
Saturday essentials
Non-alcoholic drinks are available, and cards are accepted too. You don't need any Mandarin. RSVP on Meetup to hold your spot, then pay at the door.
