Young China Watchers now has a Taipei chapter, and the first thing we're doing is getting a drink. Come be one of the people in the room on night one.
If you read cross-strait news before breakfast, argue about PRC policy for fun, or have a half-finished thesis on Chinese industrial policy sitting in a drawer, these are your people. There are no panels or slides here, and nobody will ask for your elevator pitch. It's just a room of people who follow China closely, in a city with one of the best views of the subject.
What you'll get out of it
Names to go with the takes. You'll meet the analysts, researchers, journalists, students and other professionals who read the same reports you do.
A say early on. A new chapter is shaped by the people who show up first. If you have ideas for future talks, topics or formats, bring them.
A local network. Taipei's China-watching scene is busy but scattered, and this is a good night to bring more of it together.
Before you come
You don't need to be a China expert. Being curious is enough, and so is liking a good argument over a drink. Feel free to bring a colleague who's always forwarding you articles.
Where
We're on the second floor at Lane 50, Xining South Road, in Taipei's Wanhua District. Look for the stairs and follow the sound of people debating.
